Past President

On October 26, 2022 I had the honor of passing the presidency of CCI Toronto and Area chapter to Lyndsey McNally.  Lyndsey has been right beside me during my two-year tenure as president. I know that CCI-T will be in good hands under Lyndsey’s leadership, but during this time I find myself reflecting.

The past two years have gone by so fast. It seems like just yesterday I accepted the presidency and was wondering what kind of legacy, if any, I would leave at the end of my term.  Looking back at our accomplishments I can say that in addition to starting some great projects, we also took a long hard look at how we provide membership benefits with an eye to becoming more efficient.

We set out to formalize annual plans for each of our committees. Today we have onboarded almost 80 volunteers. We have made the decision to start building an insurance mitigation app. But, even despite the magnitude of that list, it all pales in comparison to a province wide, eight-chapter collaboration to develop a standardized director certificate program.
Early in my presidency, we set out to change association management companies. We needed change and now we are comfortably past the learning curve with Redstone Agency.  This change is expected to continually yield greater results as we continue to learn and grow together with a more flexible organization.

This passing of the torch to Lyndsey is bittersweet. We are in good hands, but I am sad to see my tenure as president come to an end.  On the bright side I will remain in the past president role for the next two years allowing me to remain on our chapter executive committee. I look forward to providing a guiding hand, as I take a step back to enjoy watching our chapter continue to grow.

I am very honored to sit on a board with such enthusiastic and capable directors.  This past two years has seen the majority of the board change, and as these new directors came on board it was wonderful to see how quickly they stepped up and took charge of so many committees.  The ideas proposed by the current board will see a great many new member benefits roll out to our membership.

I hope you will all continue to support CCI-T and show Lyndsey and the board the same support you showed me. If you think it’s your time to give back, please don’t hesitate to put your name on our volunteer waiting list…that’s right with almost 80 volunteers we still have a waiting list.

As for now, I prepare for our holiday event. I have my questions ready for our always popular Case Law Review. It will be fantastic to see you all again in this season of gathering with those you care about. I look forward to seeing you all there from on stage and at the bar, at this event and many, many more yet to come.

Until next time, I’m Murray Johnson and this has been your condo connection.
